I'm hoping to be able to keep it so that my cats can't escape through it either. It seems like this will be the best option for my situation because it's heavy duty and the magnet holds it closed. I will probably have to purchase a baby gate though to keep my cats inside.

Well, whether it works or not, you can't really argue with free stuff. As long as you don't just assume it will work perfectly, it's definitely worth giving a try. Just make sure to keep an eye out for any particularly nasty bugs that might make their way in. I think we all know that not all of them are harmless.
